A small practice you can repeat

Consistency beats heroic sessions. This 20-minute ladder gives the ear, voice, and pulse a place to meet without turning practice into a checklist race.

02min

1. Drone and breath

Choose Sa, optionally add Pa, and make three relaxed breaths without chasing pitch.

04min

2. Swaras in pairs

Work through Sa–Re, Re–Ga, Ga–Ma and the return path. Keep every note short and clear.

05min

3. One raga phrase

Take one aroha or avaroha from a lesson. Repeat it slowly, then sing it without looking.

05min

4. Cycle and clap

Choose a taal, mark sam, and speak or sing the phrase while keeping the vibhag shape steady.

04min

5. Sheet and reflection

Play one aligned sheet, follow the highlighted beat, and write down one phrase that became easier to hear.

Keep one question for the end

What did I hear today that I could not hear yesterday? Write one sentence. That small act turns playback into musical memory.
