Yaman

Yaman is a foundational evening raga built from all shuddh swaras except Tivra Ma. The characteristic lift into Tivra Ma should feel graceful rather than like a Western chromatic alteration.

A simple practice path

1. Establish Sa and Pa before singing the upper register.
2. Practise N R G and G M♯ D as short motifs.
3. Keep the ascent light and let the descent resolve calmly to Sa.
